Ya falta poco para que se instale el invierno y Cascabilla ha trabajado duro para estar preparada. En su apacible nido, en lo alto del árbol, la ardilla ve caer las últimas hojas de otoño cuando, de repente, el tronco cae al suelo. ¡No puede ser! ¡Los castores lo han talado! Cascabilla está desconsolada. ¿Y ahora qué? Por suerte, los castores reconocen su error y rápidamente le ofrecen su hogar. La ardilla hace un esfuerzo, trabaja duro transportando troncos a través del río, pero pronto abandonará la idea de pasar los días en remojo. Más tarde, en la búsqueda de un nuevo lugar donde guarecerse, se encontrará con los murciélagos que, amables, le ofrecerán su cueva para el invierno, pero…
