Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023

The Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (2023), which replaced the Indian Evidence Act (1872), came into force on 1 July 2024. Passed by the Parliament in 2023, the new Act, along with the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, aims to revamp the Indian criminal justice system by replacing the dated colonial-era laws through adopting a victim-centric approach and addressing present-day requirements.
