Artificial Superintelligence Handbook II: Cognitive AI

Artificial Intelligence is nearly ubiquitous thanks to companies like Google, Facebook and Apple who have infected our daily lives with technology like AI infused natural language processing and search right in the palm of our hands. To move beyond AI to Artificial General Intelligence and then Superintelligence, we need to think far outside the AI development box to design and build human level and eventually beyond human level cognitive AI. So what does it take to build human level cognition into a machine? It takes a brand new way of thinking about artificial intelligence because today's AI systems and infrastructure will not support a true human level cognitive superintelligence, In this edition of the Superintelligence Handbook, I discuss and detail new developments in artificial general intelligence designs specifically related to artificial cognition as well as a couple of updates to some of the content in ASIH1. I also discuss new advancements in infrastructure that supports cognitive AI. The future is both uncertain and hopeful. Humanity stands on the cusp of becoming an interstellar advanced species but only if we can survive long enough to make it to the stars. We need superintelligence and cognitive systems to save us from ourselves and help us master surviving in space.
