An Induction Manual for Newly Qualified and Returning Teachers

New and returning teachers need quality induction that builds on the development and implementation of their teaching competence. This manual offers a framework for school-based training and consists of facilitator notes, photocopiable handouts, and a series of presentations on CD (which include video clips and photographs). Sessions can be used as stand alone units or run together to provide a yearlong program. The manual will help senior managers in schools to deliver a program that will enable newly qualified teachers meet standards for induction and give all staff opportunities for reflection and analysis. Sessions are arranged under the main induction headings and include surviving the first few weeks, teaching and learning, classroom management, assessment, pastoral responsibilities, special needs, child protection, differentiation, working with parents, and coping with stress.
