ABC Veggies

Though it's written with young readers in mind, ABC Veggies is a delectable book for readers of all ages It includes healthy greens, "K is for kale, a key leaf to eat..." and introduces some less familiar vegetables, "W is for watermelon radish, a wacky, rare treat." Each page reveals high-definition, full-color photos of vegetables from A to Z. The words are written in simple, easy-to-read font, with alliteration and rhyming to help young readers follow along. The author, Heather Blume, is a dietitian with a master's degree in family and consumer sciences. She has experience working in the field of child nutrition and uses her insight into children's eating habits to help care providers and parents start talking to children about the vegetables they eat. Use this book to introduce babies to vegetables as they exist in the real world and pair ABC Veggies with taste-tests and reading lessons for pre-school and early grade-school children. Ages 0-6.
