Written by Ohio-native Sherwood Anderson in 1919, Winesburg, Ohio, is a collection of interconnected short stories set in the fictional small town of Winesburg. Through the eyes of the young George Willard, we are given an intimate look into the lives of the townsfolk as they struggle with the contradiction of their desires for a greater life and a meaningful connection with others while living in a stifling, alienating small town. Each story provides a glimpse into the inner thoughts and emotions of the characters, whilst being unable to express them.
