Investigator Juan Maria Le n Saavedra takes charge when bizarre murders disturb Paraguayan tranquility. The victims are foreigners with secrets to hide. Operating out of the exotic Center of old Asunci n, Juan uses the philosophy of Augustine of Hippo to solve crimes and to guide his own life. Juan has never fully recovered from the hit-and-run death of his beloved wife Teresa. As Juan confronts the gringo murders, he relies increasingly on the resourceful and lovely policewoman Sara D az. Sara also has a secret past.
