What and How

This book is intended to bridge the gap for the little child just entering school, in a way to make the change from the freedom of the home to the restraint of the schoolroom less abrupt and irksome than it might otherwise be, and to help the teacher arouse and hold his interest through things while he is learn ing to use books. He cannot and should not keep still, so let us keep him interestedly and profitably busy during this critical transition period.
