Unter den Linden Ecke Charlottenstraße

In this volume, the Berlin architectural historians Wolfgang Schache and David Pessier illustrate the eventful history of the building complex at the intersection of Unter den Linden and Charlottenstrasse, which is currently used by Deutsche Bank. Paying particular attention to the architecturalhistorical significance of the imposing ensemble, they reconstruct the foundation and evolution of this historic banking site—built in the nineteenth century by the Disconto-Gesellschaft—within the context of the history of the Dorotheenstadt neighborhood. The chronological, multifaceted exploration further lays bare a key chapter in Berlin’s banking history.
