Une entreprise de légitimation de la grammaire arabe

La langue des ?a?a?i? est réputée difficile d'accès et la pensée de son auteur relativement opaque. Avec ce livre, le lecteur dispose désormais d'une clé pour pénétrer la pensée linguistique d'un des grammairiens les plus importants de la tradition grammaticale arabe. Il montre comment Ibn Ginni a mobilisé les concepts de l'épistémè de son époque pour systématiser le raisonnement explicatif grammatical. En lisant ce livre, le lecteur percevra également l'importance accordée par Ibn Ginni au rôle joué par le locuteur dans le changement de la langue, en ce sens que le locuteur est perçu comme le véritable agent (?amil) de son discours. Ce travail offre également au lecteur une perspective plus large sur la relation d'Ibn Ginni avec la tradition grammaticale puisqu'il montre, par exemple, que la plupart des réflexions diachroniques d'Ibn Ginni sont empruntées à l'un des disciples oubliés de Sibawayhi (180/796) : al-A?faš al-Awsa? (215/830). 

The language of ?a?a?i? is reputed to be difficult to access, and the thought of its author relatively opaque. With this book, readers now have a key to penetrate the linguistic thought of one of the most important grammarians in the Arabic grammatical tradition. It shows how Ibn Ginni used the concepts of the episteme of his time to systematize grammatical explanatory reasoning. On reading this book, the reader will also perceive the importance attached by Ibn Ginni to the role played by the speaker in language change, in that the speaker is seen as the true agent (?amil) of his discourse. This work also offers the reader a broader perspective on Ibn Ginni's relationship with the grammatical tradition, as it shows, for example, that most of Ibn Ginni's diachronic reflections are borrowed from one of Sibawayhi's forgotten disciples (180/796): al-A?faš al-Awsa? (215/830).
