Under Western Eyes

This is an exciting four-part novel written by Joseph Conrad in Russia during the reign of Tsar Nicholas III. This was a period in which the ruling class was very out of touch with the needs of the working class, and the living and working conditions were literally immaterial, skillfully describing the political turmoil of nineteenth-century Russia and following the Dramatic developments in the life of a student, Razumov, as he prepares for a career in the Tsarist bureaucracy.
