Life in Niffu Town turns wolfish as poverty and ritual madness rise. Tesio and Gmasnoh, determined to gain Western education, defy tradition and vow celibacy until completing their studies. Winning scholarships, they journey from Liberia to America for medical degrees. When chaos erupts at JFK Airport, Tesio's courage averts disaster, earning them U.S. citizenship and the American Dream. Yet, by marrying outside their culture, they anger the gods. Summoned home to atone through a traditional intermarriage, they face a grave choice - obey the divine command or defy it and risk death.
