The Village, The Child

The face of Ste. Madeleine, the agricultural village where I was born and where I grew up in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in the 1950's, has changed. The name Ste. Madeleine was associated with the island's sugar cane cultivation and sugar manufacture at the Usine Ste. Madeleine factory. The economy has since changed. Many landmarks have also disappeared from this village in south Trinidad. As you walk or drive through the village today, the nostalgia is great... so great. Please celebrate with me that which I have attempted to capture through my childhood eyes.
