The Luxury of Skepticism

From Hobbes to Harrington to Berkeley, this work explores the public function of the philosophical dialogue at the beginning of England's long 18th century. It argues that the dialogue as a literary form helped to develop the public sphere in late 17th- and early 18th-century England.
