The Girl from the Archipelago

Kira lives with her family in a lighthouse off Finland's southeastern coast. Absent parents and a shaky bond with her siblings contribute to her fears about the future. Convinced she won't be able to survive on her own, she finds an outsider to help her cross the threshold from childhood to adulthood.

Decades later, the empty Kira sits in a hospital room in New York, her dead husband's fingers wrapped around her wrist. She decides to travel to the far shores of the Atlantic to find the one person in the world who still matters.

While reconnecting with her past, Kira seeks out the
company of a deaf Irishman she met once at a dinner party. She hopes he can help her come to terms with the excruciating decisions she has made over the course of her life.

The Girl from the Archipelago is a poignant account of a childhood that ended too soon. A story of loss, longing, and the human attempt to mend the most broken parts of our lives - our inner selves, our families, and the ones we love most.

Tuire Krogerus (b. 1983) is a successful entrepreneur,
avid traveler, and author. Her work is marked by bold realism, unique imagery, and unflinching exploration of difficult themes. Krogerus lives in Tampere, Finland. The Girl from the Archipelago is her debut work.
