For the women of 1920s London, the city is full of opportunity – if they are bold enough to take it. Dora, Ivy and Lou are firm friends, brought together by their shared ambitions and experiences as working-class women in a city that often overlooks them. But when they fall in with the charismatic Sadie, they are drawn into a web of deception and daring. The four embark on a series of elaborate thefts in which they pose as high-class women to steal exquisite clothes. Seduced by rich velvet gowns, shimmering silks and frothy chiffons, they step into a new world of confidence, poise and possibility. But ambition brings risk, and Sadie’s secret ties to London’s criminal underworld disturb the fragile balance of the group.
