The Dope Runners

Set in Germany in the turbulent 1970s, this novella recounts the exciting adventures of expatriate New Zealanders Marcus Flack and his wife Ann Marie who get drawn into a hashish smuggling ring, making runs to Holland and back. Their old friend Art Atwood turns up from their past and proceeds to have a breakdown while their own relationship goes into free fall.

The results are hilarious, trippy, scary and edgy. Johnson writes with his tongue in his cheek and a sharp, satirical eye. The Dope Runners is a comedy with a twist of lemon.
