The Abandoned

Izzie is abandoned. Abandoned by the parents who left her in the trash, abandoned by a society embarrassed by poverty, abandoned by a world who wants nothing more from her than her blood. Raised in a holding centre, a sick imitation of an orphanage, she was raised a soldier, able to fight when instructed, and die when ordered. When she breaks out of confinement with a small group of her peers, her problems are only just beginning however, and she numbly realises it's going to be a long haul to freedom.
