That Undiscover'd Country

What happens to our soul/spirit consciousness after we die? Is our essential awareness just extinguished like a snuffed candle, or does it continue on in some invisible and ineffable realm beyond our mortal ken? This has been throughout the entire span of human existence the greatest of all Mysteries.
