'TAKEZO Learns to Swim' is the story of a baby tortoise named Takezo who is born in a place far away. He is frightened of water and wants to be free of the tortoise responsibility of swimming. He prefers to walk. His mother, Wani tortoise admonishes him to learn to swim but he wanders away from home and becomes lost. Takezo is stranded after a heavy rainstorm floods a river. He is at risk of crocodile attack but manages to survive being caught and eaten by Wani crocodile, by using his imagination and initiative to cross the river. He realises the importance of learning to swim and musters the confidence to learn. Takezo finally becomes a successful swimmer and gains the acclaim of his friends and family. 'Takezo Learns to Swim', contains 33 full colour hand illustrated pictures. The large 'learn-to-read' print with red swatch is crafted to enable early learning-to-read skills . The large picture pages enable easy group storytelling. This simple cautionary tale has a message of responsibility, family values, survival and more. It also encourages overcoming challenges and extols the importance of learning to swim.
