Naturally it is upon the former that I have based my theories, and I hope that in the body of the work I have made clear my Opinion as to their relative importance. The others I have included, partly for the sake of completeness, and partly because, in spite of any amount Of inventiveness on the part of the author, there is always a possibility of some old tradition being preserved.
