Socio-affective Adoption

Socio-affective adoption is, first and foremost, a choice about who to love, who to give affection and care to and, above all, who to share life with. Affection is more important than biological origin among its members. Socio-affective adoption is based on the bonds of affection formed by living together, reciprocal expressions of affection between people, companionship, mutual assistance and concern. These are ties that go beyond consanguinity.
