Scent On the Wind

Allegra Johnson (1983-2013) was a born writer and poet. She demonstrated artistic and literary interests and won many prizes for fiction and poetry. Among them are twenty Scholastic Writing Awards and The New York Browning Society's Rose Riccobono Prize in Poetry. Editor of The Chapin School's literary magazine, "e;The Wheel,"e; she also served on its editorial board and published fiction, poems, and artwork in its pages and in "e;Limelight."e; Her writing has also appeared in "e;The Apprentice Writer"e; of Susquehanna University and elsewhere. Interning at the "e;Village Voice,"e; she became an accomplished equestrian and skater, and fell in love with music. Awarded a National Merit Scholarship, she attended UCLA and then New York University. Writing was Allegra's passion. In addition to the collected poems in "e;Scent on the Wind . . . .,"e; she wrote three novels. Tragically she died at age thirty while she was enrolled in courses at the UCLA Extension Writers' Program.
