After setting the historical context, the author investigates aspects of Enlightenment political culture as well as aspects of the new world order, including international relations, the European Union and human rights. In conclusion, the author introduces the concept of a new humanism, which he suggests, drawing on certain aspects of Enlightenment political philosophy, can complement the new world order.
