Red Cloud

Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. When I was ordered out on active service to Ashanti, on the Gold Coast of Africa, I got hold of any books I could find on that country in order to learn something about it before I went there. One of these books was called T ize Story of a Failure. It was by Sir William Butler, the brilliant General and writer of Red Cloud. The story was the story of his own failure, in a previous campaign in Ashanti, to reach Kumasi (the capital) with the force that he commanded.
