A journey across Greece, Turkey and the Middle East, which retraces the one made by Pythagoras some 2500 years ago in his quest to discover 'the theory of everything'. Travelling through lands steeped in history and alive with myths and legends, the author writes about the places he visited and the cultures he met there. From Apollo's Temple at Delphi to the Egyptian pyramids, the cities of the ancient Near East and the final resting place of Noah's Ark, he describes the antiquities that still remain and endeavours to put into some sort of context, the life and achievements of the mystical Greek philosopher.
