Pukaar (Short Stories)

Literature is the best imitation of any society. Receiving an impact from the society, literature points it social, moral, political and economic effects on it as well. The short-story, is one of the most important literary subgenres in Urdu literature, despite its relative youth. This was influenced by western and literary concepts and tendencies, as well as the contemporary industrial and mechanized environment. This book "Pukaar (The Call)" collects a selection of short stories from rural and urban fiction that were written by Urdu fiction writer Shakila Akhtar.
