Protestantische Kirchenkampfdeutungen

Karl Barth (Bekennende Kirche), Walter Kunneth (Jungreformatorische Bewegung) and Emanuel Hirsch (Deutsche Christen) were certainly influential, distinguished and representative theologians in the so-called "Church Struggle" in Germany in the 1930s. The way they interpreted and talked about this struggle is of great importance for our own understanding of this turbulent era of church history. The main goal of this study is to examine the influence of theological thinking into the interpretation of the "Church-Struggle" to help us to find our own way to deal with this dubious chapter in the history between church and state and complicated Inter-Church Relations.
