Plant Baby and Its Friends

Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The plant baby and its friends is the outcome of some years of happy experience in the schoolroom with a flock of country children. The need was felt of attractive reading matter to supplement the natural-science work being performed by the classes. It is easier to interest children in simple stories about Nature than in the technical treatment of the regular schoolbook; and the author believes that the science story book, conscientiously prepared with accuracy and skill, should precede the more formal text-book on the same subject, up to which it will naturally lead.
