Among his peers and classmates, photographer Sawyer Lewis has always been a misfit—a freak. He's spent his entire life as an outsider, but that all changes when a chance meeting introduces him to rebel goth and every teacher's worst nightmare, April O'Riley. Sawyer is thrown into her world and suddenly finds himself caught up in everything from April's messy home situation to her antagonistic relationship with the dangerous local quarterback, Mason Lee. The more Sawyer learns about April's scars, the more he is forced to start dealing with his own, and when things take a turn for the worst, Sawyer might just start wishing that instead of facing the situation he's gotten himself into, he could go back to just looking at a photograph.
