On Friday Night

It was Friday, April 15th, the due date for filing federal individual income tax returns. The accounting office lobby was bustling this evening, and the last client, a lady, walked in at 11 pm. The accountant, also a lady, finished serving her last client and they both headed to the exit. To their surprise, they found that they were locked inside the building until morning. With no foreseeable way out, they had no choice but to pass the time by exchanging stories about their lives. By the morning, it felt like they had known each other for an eternity and had become the closest of friends. It was the perfect reminder that, even in the most unexpected circumstances, we can still find an opportunity to form meaningful connections with others.
