No White Picket Fence tells stories that need to be heard about young women's resilience through foster care. Drawn from in-depth interviews, this powerful verbatim play gives voice to marginalized perspectives from those at the heart of the youth in care system. The play follows the women's unique experiences in their own words, from before being taken into care, through their time in the system, into their current lives navigating the world as young adults. These stories are raw, characterized by times of turmoil and suffering, and yet they also highlight the women's persistent efforts to move toward living well on their own terms.
