Newspaper Vocabulary

Some students try to cram very very difficult words whose meaning is beyond comprehension of an English teacher. So the point is, are we trying to show off our word power or are we trying to communicate? The second one seems to be true and only that should be aim of a student and a writer. In a nutshell, the common words or the words used generally while writing should be learned no matter how difficult they might be. And where to find these words? The answer is simple - in newspapers. Although English newspapers may write unlimited number of news stories yet they use only a limited number of words and phrases. We as readers should master these words then we would be able to write effectively as the journalists and editors do.
