Mrs. Avery and Jeffrey is based on a true story involving the author's mother and a baby squirrel she rescued. Mrs. Avery was at a time in her life when her children were almost grown and out of her nest, so she felt that she wasn't needed as much anymore-that is until Jeffrey showed up! Jeffrey was a delight in her life until Jeffrey became too much to handle! Jeffrey, at heart, was a wild animal and longed to live like other squirrels do. But can Mrs. Avery let Jeffrey go?
