How can I point out all the rules she placed, when the burden of culture is a mother's weight?If I cross a line, we all know which parent is to blame, How could I compare her to sitcom moms who have it all?When our society sets women up to fail and to fall?When I separate my mother from motherhood, I feel her pain,Of all the sacrifices made only to have it thrown back into your face,I'm being cruel I know, I need to learn to let go,The standards that aren't fair, of a fantasy impossible for any woman to achieve,I am trying to let her in, to feel close to me now,To meet in a halfway place between our worlds.
