Victoria is a trial attorney, engaged with Peter, her colleague, who is believed to propose to her soon; this until she discovers him with Amanda, a beautiful blond and charming actress. Victoria is shocked; no longer able to concentrate on her job, she loses an important case and is dismissed. In financial difficulties and under the pressure of her friends, she agrees to rent out a room in her apartment to a Slavic bricklayer named Mihai. The cohabitation with Mihai is tough: they are both stubborn and touchy. Mihai, a pragmatic bricklayer, sees her as a superficial snob and a spoiled Italo-American lady. Victoria, on the other hand, considers him an ignorant and sexist immigrant. But opposites attract each other. And, sure enough, Victoria realizes that, despite being "only" a bricklayer, Mihai is the right man for her. Meanwhile, she also discovers the secret of the bricklayer...
