Mainstreaming of School Dropouts: A Study in Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh

The most innocent phase in human life is the childhood. It is that stage of life when the human foundations are laid for a successful adult life. It is the phase when we are carefree, fun loving, learning, playing... A child is said to be the most beautiful creation of God. But not all children lead a happy life except those lucky ones who receive proper care and affection from their parents. There are children who had never enrolled in school. There are many children who drop out from school at a very early age. These children are deprived of basic education required for their socio-psychological development on sound lines, which would hamper their progress in the adulthood phase, thereby adversely affecting their meaningful participation in the development of a Nation. This is happening despite Constitutional provisions for compulsory education for all children in the age group of 6-14 years in India for over six decades.
