Love Letters

'Love Letters' is the true story of a passionate love affair spanning the Second World War. It is the social history of a British enemy alien and his Italian girlfriend.

This is a tale of subterfuge and deception as the cousins strive to keep their relationship secret from all the family, and especially the much feared, draconian Zio Peppino. Two voices narrate the course of their daily lives and loves, with a darkening political scene looming in the background. Giorgio lives in England, while still retaining his Italian citizenship, and Mariolina falls passionately in love with her exotic cousin. Their plans are shattered on the day Italy joins the war, and instead of becoming united, the hapless couple are driven further and further apart. 'Our love will win the war', declares Mariolina stoically, but what will it have to endure?
