Laowai

Laowai is a work of travel fiction, focusing on 23 months spent by American lowlife Gregory Altschuler in the coastal southeastern Chinese city of Xiamen. As the narrative progresses, the reader willl come to know him by his base instincts, pharmacological history and sexual activities. Touches of both his most dramatic and real world as much as completely chimerical experiences and circumstances round out his story. This is not a book for the prude, as a fair deal of focus is given to the time Gregory spends with the approximately 100 women with whom he has intercourse during this span. Rather, the ideal reader will appreciate humor, irony and the utterly unexpected.
