Laila''s Crazy

The story of "Majnun Laila" is considered one of the most famous love stories immortalized in Arabic literature, and it inspired many writers and authors in the East and West. The two heroes of this story are Qais bin Al-Malouh and his cousin Laila Al-Amriyah, who were born in Najd, in the seventh century AH. The two lovers grew up together. Since childhood, each of them became attached to the other, and this attachment began to grow with them into a mutual love, but this story was not complete, as Laila''s family prevented her from marrying Qais, or even meeting him, but this did not stop him from loving her, but rather he became fascinated by her to the point of madness. When he learned the news of her marriage to someone else, he frowned, recited poetry, and sang of his virginal love.The chapters of Maroun Abboud''s five-act play revolve around this love tragedy, where the events begin from the separation between the two lovers, and Laila''s illness that claimed her life, affected by the pain of love and longing, so Qais follows her and commits suicide with a dagger in front of her shrine.
