Kulathankarai Arasamaram is a Short story by U. V. Swaminatha Iyer.This is also considered the first short story of Tamil.He made a name as a fine short story writer with 'Kulathankarai Arasa Maram' (The Story of the Peepul Tree by the Side of a Pond). Here the narrator is the tree itself.It has a domestic backdrop and adopts a psychological point of view.
