Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. Conscious of its many deficiencies, this little book is issued in the hope that it may prove of some service to visitors to Benares, and possibly to others who reside here for a season. Whatever its fate, it is offered by one who is not only intensely interested in Kashi, but who loves her dearly, and desires, and strives for, her good.
