When Maya Norris sneaks into a dinosaur dig site after hours, it's the first step in a journey that will take her out of this world -- if she survives the prehistoric secrets the dig protects. Smart and chic and a Manhattan native, Maya spends most summers hunting bones with her paleontologist mom. So when her mother takes a job with a dig outside Vernal, Utah, messing up Maya's senior year of high school in the process, she knows the drill and grudgingly goes along.The site is restricted--a draw she and a group of local kids can't resist. But when they sneak on site they discover a strange underground place no one knew anything about. They climb down into the huge space and become trapped.The underground place, called Kairos, has secrets that seem increasingly alien. But the place also harbors dinosaurs, and when Maya realizes that her fate depends on her ability to kill prehistoric monsters or be killed by them, she risks everything in the fight to survive.
