Just Shy of Serenity

In 1996, in San Antonio, Texas, two four-year-olds, Gerald and Anjelica, meet in a kindergarten classroom. For the next 20 years we follow them on their journey to adulthood as their friendship is frequently tested, and occasionally severed. Witness every broken heart, every broken promise, and every harsh lesson learned as these two are there for some of the most satisfying and most painful moments of each other's lives. They struggle to overcome the death of family members. Celebrate growing closer to each other. Cry over the distance that grows between them as their bodies change and friendships evolve. They help each other deal with the pain of one failed romantic relationship after another while also struggling to maintain their own turbulent friendship. Follow them all the way from kindergarten to college and just a little bit beyond as they uncover the meaning of serenity.
