Still more important, he claims to have discovered and unfolded a cipher inserted in the text of the Shakespearian Plays by Lord Bacon, who therein not only lays claim to their authorship but gives at length the unwritten history of the Court of Elizabeth. In this phase of the controversy there can be no middle ground. The proofs to be offered by Mr. Donnelly must be absolute.
