Introduction to the Senses

Set in the context of Information Theory and Fourier Analysis, this textbook reviews the brain's modular processing of sensory information and the neural resources devoted to each of the senses. Its primary concern with vision reflects the amount of brain devoted to this sense as well as its importance in games and virtual reality. Hearing, touch, olfaction, taste and balance, all still at experimental stages, are also covered. A dedicated website maintained by the author accompanies the book.
