This book is based on a conference held in June 1977 il). Kassel, Germany. The conference was part of a broad program for the advancement of developmental psychology in Germany being sponsored by the Volkswagen Foundation. One main aim of this program was to improve the scientific interchange between developmental psychologists, both within Germany and with other countries.
