How Egrets Got Their Long Legs

My son Lawrence came home one day from school with a special English Assignment. He was given fifty random words and was told to take atleast ten of them and wrote a short story. Over the weekend he had two days to think about it. He asked me to help him with the story. I told him that the easiest story to write about would be a fable. We looked over the choices of words he had and decided to write a tale about cranes. We talked about what cranes did and how they looked while trying to use as many words as possible. So we came up with this story.
