Housing policy and small towns

The object of the study concerns the effects of the implementation and execution of a vast social housing programme, the Minha Casa Minha Vida (MCMV) Programme, in small inland municipalities with fewer than fifty thousand inhabitants, located in the micro-region of Baixa Verde, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. This academic and scientific study, now translated into book form, represents a great opportunity to understand the problems of poverty and housing in a rural area of northeastern Brazil, without its aura of abstraction, but concretely applied to the case of the Baixa Verde micro-region. It offers the community a unique study, and I am sure it will be an extremely valuable contribution to readers, students, teachers, and scholars of urban and regional issues, not only in Rio Grande do Norte but throughout Brazil.
