Holiness

Holiness is important. God says "e;Be holy because I am holy."e; (1 Peter 1:16). Holiness is not sanctification. Holiness is often misunderstood. Christians can think it is something difficult to obtain whereas according to the Bible, it is defined as being "e;set apart"e; or consecrated for God's special purpose, as well as possessing absolute moral purity. It stems from God's nature (the Holy One), requiring believers to separate themselves from sin and worldly corruption to reflect His divine character through righteous living. It is derived from the Hebrew qadowsh ("e;to cut"e; or separate) and Greek hagios (sacred), it signifies being distinct from the common or profane.
